Wykeham Lakes is situated within the Dawnay Estate on the southern edge of the North Yorkshire Moors, and eastern end of the Vale of Pickering.
Wykeham Lakes is made up of four landscaped lakes (former gravel pits), one of which is the Trout Water is stocked with Rainbow, Blue & Brown trout. The three other lakes provide a variety of coarse fishing, which includes pleasure, predator and a match lake.
A full time warden is employed who is available for advice and the sale of tickets. In addition there is an arrangement with “East Coast Field and Stream” at the old post office in the neighbouring village of Wykeham (01723 865039) for a range of roads, fly’s, lures and other tackle.
The fishing lodge provides a base with coffee and tea making facilities, snacks and cold drinks can be purchased along with a small selection of bait which includes, sinking and floating pellets, sweetcorn, luncheon meat and brown crumb (Ground Bait). Toilets and a seating area is also available.

The lake has a wide selection of features to fish to, including bays, lily pads, marginal reeds, over hanging trees, gravel bars and an island. It is a well stocked lake with carp, averaging 5 lbs, but with several larger fish such as one weighing 18lbs 6oz caught in 2013. There are Roach to over 1lb and Perch with recent specimens been caught at just over 3lbs. Bream and some beautifully coloured Crucian Carp can also be found within this lake.

Pike Fishing Rules:
Beautiful, peaceful location with ample wild life viewing. The trout are top class and fighting fit in crystal clear water with plenty of natural fly life. Be warned, don’t go below a 6lb leader or you WILL be broken. Fished there for 16 years and my best is a 16lb 4 oz rainbow. Highly recommended.
