The River Blackwater runs though Hampshire and Wiltshire. It is a tributary of the River Test that rises near Salisbury. It then flows east across the county boundary into Hampshire. Here it flows north of the village of Wellow and Wigley before joining the Test between Totton and Redbridge.
This is a long beat of just under a mile that you will have to yourself or be sharing with just one other. The banks are high, but well trimmed allowing for relatively easy casting. The river is full of character with sharp bends, deep pools and straight, shallower sections in between.
Here is as good beat for a mixture of brown trout and grayling, with a few sea trout arriving in mid-summer with the lakes available if you want a couple of fish to take home.
