Welcome to Wansford Trout and Coarse Fishery.  A picturesque setting in the Yorkshire Wolds, close to market town of Driffield.  We have a unique running water trout lake fed by the Driffield canal, and a coarse pond, both well stocked and maintained to the highest standards.

The Trout Lake:

 The trout lake is the shape of horseshoe with an average depth running 8 to 10 feet.

 The lake has an inlet and outlet, so with these features we have a constant flow, which means it does not flood or freeze so we can offer all year round fishing.

 You can fish from every bank where you can catch a good selection of rainbows and brown trout, ranging from 2lb – 4lb with some fish up to 19lb 4oz.  

 Natural insect life includes sedges, daddies, gnats, bloodworm and buzzers.

 Recommended flies: Sedges, Buzzers, Black Gnat, Daddies, Bloodworm, Fritz, Cat’s Whisker and Montana.

 The lake is also a Troutmaster water.

The Coarse Pond:

 The coarse pond is in the shape of a horseshoe with 28 pegs, which are at a low level and with stepped access.

 The pond has mature reed beds and when fished tight can produce some quality fish with carp to the mid 20’s, perch over 5lb, tench to over 9lb along with roach, rudd, eels and chub.

 The average depth of the pond is 5 feet.

 The pond is available for match bookings by either individuals, clubs, charities or organisations.  Either check at the fishery or on the news pages for more details.

 The fishery also has its own on site facilities and toilets on site.
