beat overview
An excellent lower Tweed beat with nearly one mile of prime Tweed water situated on the (Scottish) bank between Coldstream and Kelso. It is one of the Lower Tweed beats that does well throughout the fishing season and is particularly productive in mid to higher water.
The 5 year average now stands at a record 211 salmon with the added bonus of some good sea trout fishing too.
Several fish at 20 pounds plus were landed in 2013 with the biggest fish being 30 pounds caught on November 11th.
The beat has ample off road parking and a well appointed fishers’ hut with heating, cooking and toilet facilities. The hut is situated at the centre of the beat and all pools are easily accessed.
There is a Head Ghillie and support ghillie when required and two wooden Tweed boats.
The Head Ghillie has made some significant improvements since he took over and the ghillies pride themselves on welcoming novice as well as experienced fishers, with lady fishers very welcome.
