Set in East Yorkshire close to the Yorkshire coast, 

Star Carr Trout Farm & Coarse Fisheries is a family run business 

offering superb fly and coarse fishing. 

Boat hire and tackle hire is available, plus a well stocked shop.

We are a family run fishery and you will always find a warm and friendly welcome at Star Carr Trout Farm & Fisheries from Ray and Edward. 

We have excellent facilities, including a large trout lake (Troutmasters Registered), two coarse lakes, boat hire, tackle hire, tuition, tackle shop, toilets, washroom and a club house. 

We are open seven days a week from 7.30am till dusk.

Star Carr trout Farm & Fishery was established in 1996 by the Howe family, who developed the business on the site of a disused gravel pit. 

It is based in the small rural village of Brandesburton in East Yorkshire. 

The setting provides a very natural habitat for wildlife that helps to promote ideal conditions for fly and course fishing.

Trout Fishing

The largest of the lakes is a superb dedicated 4.5 acre Trout Lake and is purely for the fly fishermen so no course fishing is allowed on this water. 

It is comprehensively stocked with large numbers of Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, Blue Trout, Golden Trout and Arctic Char. 

There is an abundance of double figure Rainbows to over 20lb. 

The lake has 14 pegs around the bank for easy access to the water’s edge. 

They also have boats to hire with electric motors for access to the middle waters of the lake (a small fee is payable). 

They also offer tuition on fly fishing (recommended if your new to it), speak to Ray or Edward about what is available. 

It is not as hard as most people think (with some tuition). 

Tackle hire is also available so you can try fly fishing without spending a fortune on gear and we also offer tuition at a very reasonable rate. 

Unfortunately the pegs on this lake are not accessible to wheelchairs although one peg close to the office can be reached with assistance. 

A number of pegs are available on the entry roadside are accessible to ambulant disabled with care.

Coarse Fishing

 They also have two well stocked coarse fishing lakes, available year round. 

The smaller lake:

This is easier to fish with 11 pegs although the size of fish are slightly smaller than the larger lake. 

This smaller lake is stocked with Carp up to 15lb, Tench (Green & Gold) up to 5lb, Bream up to 3lb, plus Roach, Rudd and Perch.  

The depth varies from 18 inches in the edge to 7 feet in places. 

Most pegs have platforms and are wheelchair accessible with parking on the grass directly behind the peg (weather permitting).  

Although on some pegs, the surrounding grass has a gentle slope I have graded most of them as 4* (wheelchair friendly with care). 

Large Coarse Lake:

This larger of the two lakes is stocked with Carp (Mirror, Common, Koi, Grass, Crucian & Ghost) up to 30lb, Tench (Green & Gold) up to 12lb, as well as Bream, Roach, Rudd, Arctic Char, Perch, Pike (up to 22lb) and the odd Trout. 

It is three and a half acres and has 14 pegs located around it. 

However only two pegs are accessible to wheelchairs with assistance (Grading them 2*). 

These two pegs are through the trees at the far end of the smaller lake (one being through the gate). Parking however is only at the start of the trees (approx 30 yards from the pegs). 

There are two pegs on the entry road to the ponds which are accessible to ambulant disabled (with care and assistance) down some steps to the fishing platforms.

A boat can be made available for the larger lake upon request for a nominal fee.
