This is a beautiful stretch of river. The River Gaur flows into Loch Rannoch at the Western end of the loch and offers some excellent Trout fishing. There are also Salmon in the system.
Having spent years fishing this river I can tell you from my experience the fly rod is favoured. I won’t list all the flies I use, not for the sakes of keeping them secret, to save a long list.
Try the Bridge pool. If there is any insect life try and match it. I always try a single dry first. From the rock (you will know it when you see it) shoot your fly out straight at the big house across the stream and let it move across to your left. There is often a scum in the bend of the river and often a fish ready to take. Move through your wets and down towards the bridge. I keep a dry on as indicator and you can be lucky with both .
Lets keep this water and surroundings nice and tidy and release as many fish as we can guys and gals.
