Pilsworth Fishery is an established mixed course fishery in Heywood, Lancashire, providing accessible and affordable high quality fishing on a day ticket and overnight basis. Over the last 28 years the owner Eric Taylor has put much hard work into the lakes in terms of stocking and landscaping and the rewards can be seen in the excellent stock of fish and the relaxing environments provided.

The fishery is baliffed on a full time basis and someone is always on hand to provide any assistance and guidance where possible. The fishery accommodates a whole range of anglers from beginners to the dedicated match and specimen carp anglers that use the fishery for leisure or match purposes.

Whether your just starting up, improving your skills or refining your techniques why not try Pilsworth to see if you can catch that personal best!

THE LAKES

The fishery has an interesting history as the main lake and lodges were used during the Industrial Revolution for mill works that once sat upon the site.

Today the lakes provide relaxing sport for anglers of all ages and abilities and the size of the complex offers some unique fishing opportunities in the Greater Manchester / South Lancashire region.

MATCH LAKE – pictures will appear her shortly

The 47 peg match lake hold good stocks of carp ,roach, bream, skimmers, chub and barbel and is approximately 4 -5 feet deep all over the lake and has two islands that can be easily fished to. Pole or waggler is recommended.

It should be noted that there is no night fishing or fishing with floating baits on this lake and all rules should be adhered to. Matches are held on a Wednesday evening ( May to August) and on a Sunday ( All Year ). These are open matches and anyone is welcome to join.

SPECIMEN LAKE – Pictures will appear shortly

This is an eleven acre lake ranging from 5 feet deep at the car park to 18 feet deep at the dam wall and has a stony/silty bottom which is relatively snag free. All methods work well but don’t discount the margins – some of the bigger fish are regularly caught just a rod length from the bank!

The water holds a good number of carp to 30lb including plenty of 20lb+ fish and it also holds good stocks of bream, perch and pike. Pegs are provided with plenty of room for your bivvy and a fresh water tap is available next to the car park. There are double pegs available on both bankings.

Work has now been finished on the construction of a new banking and 10 well spaced out pegs have been provided on that side of the lake. Please note there is strictly no fishing from the dam wall or from the grass bank between the car park and the first peg on the new banking.

THE LODGES – Pictures will appear her shortly

These five lodges provide 40 pegs for match and leisure fishing for day ticket anglers. The lodges hold good stocks of carp, tench, roach, bream, chub and barbel and range from 4 to 7 feet deep. Pole or waggler is recommended.
