Lower Pavilion is a superb middle Tweed beat situated alongside the historic abbey town of Melrose. Offering not only a mile and a half of double bank fishing, but also panoramic views of the Eildon Hills in a stunning location.
There are eight named pools, three that fish well at low water. The others are deep pools which are very productive in high water. The beat offers a variety of fishing: from the bank, in the boat and relatively good wading, giving the angler an excellent choice of water. Lower Pavilion fishes six rods in three 2-rod beats, which rotate at lunchtime. However during July and August only four rods are fished.
Scott Povey, the full time, experienced ghillie of Lower Pavilion is always present to assist and advise anglers. There is a fully equipped, modern fishing hut situated on the north bank of the river, which is easily accessible via Gattonside.
The five year average stands at 189 salmon with the added bonus of some excellent sea trout fishing.
