Loch Rannoch has to be one of the most beautiful places on earth. No matter where your fishing you will be surrounded by stunning views.

Fishing the Loch from the banks can be rewarding but you normally have to put time into it. Move around and persevere. If your fly fishing it’s a good idea to look for a place where water is coming in to the loch or get your waders on and head to the western end of the loch. Take a wading pole with you and poke around as you make your way in.

Spinning with meps, small copper lures and toby’s have good results.

This Loch is famous for its huge Ferrox Trout. Normally caught from a boat trolling deep around the edges of the loch but they do get taken from the banks, especially by the pike anglers.

Pike fishing is best at the western end of the Loch, deadbeats do the trick and the chance of picking up a ferrox trout is on the cards.

If your out on a boat and you don’t know this Loch, be warned the weather can change quickly, small boats can take a pounding so be very careful. If in doubt stay close to the shore.
