If you’re looking to discover Swedish salmon fishing on a budget, or would prefer the comforts of dry lodging instead of our wilderness camping, you can now fish in the Kangos waters of the Lainio river whilst staying in a beautiful traditional Swedish house, with 9 double rooms, 1 single and 1 family room, bathroom, shower and 3 prepared meals a day.
The Kangos water begins not far from the junction where the Lainio and Torne rivers meet and ends before our Camp Onka fishing begins. it has a length of 10km association double bank fishing and can be truly excellent to any salmon fisher ready to go out, explore and search for salmon.
One of the many highlights of the Kangos fishing water is the annual salmon festival that takes place on the 2nd weekend of July. Many come to fish and compete to win a special prize and the heaviest fish always wins! In 2016 Loop Tackle Design will also be hosting a salmon fishing school during the same event, which is sure to be an excellent time of the year to fish and learn some new tricks on the Kangos water.
Salmon season begins on the 15th of June with the largest of the salmon appearing first followed by the main run and grilse fishing very well into mid late August when the season comes to an end. Every year the locals and ourselves stop on the Kangos bridge to look over and watch the salmon swimming through. Some even try a cast from under the bridge and spectators can spot the salmon rise and take the fly, a very exciting experience to say the least!
