Butterley Reservoir near Ripley is a 45 acre venue that will reward anglers who put in the effort. The reservoir is split in two by the steam train line that runs through it, so you could say this makes it into two separate venues.

The water is stocked with a good head of silver fish, there are big shoals of bream and if you manage to locate them you should have an arm aching session. The venue sees plenty of specimen anglers on the banks who target the carp and pike. The bait put in by the carpers helps to feed up the bream and roach.

In the summer months when the weather is warm, the long walk round to the far shallow end can pay dividends. In the colder months many people tend to opt to fish the deeper water along the dam walls.

Club memberships are available from all local tackle shops and from the bank side bailiffs (A passport size photo would be required).

Day Tickets are also available on the bank side.

Night fishing is strictly members only, permits being available.
